Hi, I’m Ingrid Porter of <a href="http://www.ingridporter.com/" target="_blank">Ingrid Porter Interiors</a> based in the Cleveland, Ohio area. I’m an interior designer who is best known for designs that are stylish, timeless and most of all functional. I feel the best designed homes are a reflection of the people who live there and todays blog post is a perfect example of that.<br /><br />What a joy to be a guest blogger on one of my favorite blogs, House of Turquoise. It’s so fun because turquoise is my favorite color and to be able to share with you one of my favorite designs on this blog is truly an honor, thank you Erin. She wanted a room that was full of color, yet calm and relaxing. I used a calm color on the walls and added the bright, fun colors in the accessories.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRxbi2KiiXNXne70-GwFWQ_yzISs4gDmiCY6FT6cOgT6XVIAl1bZ91WIjCI0BGcJU0JPdMCa8FGaa7df41PyCEA0jxQLwScxhutQjzJ-rTFPKZfIAUQFOos4Sx1yuhKWpxscmMpRKOIOWI/s1600/IP_Interiors-10.jpg" /></div><br />Because we already had a lot of small accessories, I placed them on shelves that can show them off. It’s a great way to have the things you love near you, but in an organized way. This is also a great way to add that layered look to your designs. One of the most important uses of this room happens on the weekends when they can sit, talk, read and relax. The color and style fit perfectly with the design. They are all absolutely gorgeous...and you haven't even seen all of the patterns or the other colorways! Those colors, the pattern...it seriously takes my breath away! The lighting, tile, vanity, hardware and mirror are really beautiful as well. The shimmery turquoise <a href="http://products.daltile.com/series.cfm?series=415&item=6357&look=glass" target="_blank">backsplash</a> (that she found on <i>Craigslist</i>!!), fabulous <a href="http://rstyle.me/n/5fsp6ssxw" target="_blank">capiz chandelier</a>, big farmhouse sink, colorful <a href="http://www.candykirbydesigns.com/products/fabric-by-the-yard-watercolor-ikat-on-heavy-cotton-twill" target="_blank">roman shade</a>, clean white cabinets and counters...it's all so up my alley and just what I'd choose for my own dream space! In the case of this fabulous upstairs media and laundry/walk-in closet designed by <a href="http://www.heatherscotthome.com/" target="_blank">Heather Scott Home & Design</a> out of Austin, Texas, it was the homeowner's vintage Elvis poster! I'm just loving the turquoise and pink! But I'm also loving the functionality here. I dream of having a pretty space just like this to do laundry/store my clothes (though it would never be this clutter-free!) Having the media room right next door would be super handy. If only mine were this chic and cozy!
